Uruguay Program Files 1962-1974.

The records were collected by the Secretaries for South America, William E. Cox and Milton J. Olson. They are divided into correspondence, finance, minutes, reports, and subject files. The general correspondence is arranged chronologically. Olson also kept separate files dealing with Montevideo (including the Lutheran Center) and Rivera. There is also a file of correspondence with the Seventh Day Adventist Mission. The Adventists sought to purchase the Lutheran Center from the LCA in order to strengthen their own education work. The finance files contain budgets and financial reports. Minutes are from the Mission Council and Lutheran Missionary Association, with correspondence included relating to the minutes. One file contains general reports from individual missionaries. The rest are reports from visits of Secretary Cox and Executive Director Earl S. Erb to the field. In addition to a few individual project and people files, the subject files include several folders each of information on the Ecumenical Institute and the 1968 Study Conference. Both of these have been divided into files of correspondence, papers in English, and papers in Spanish.
